Information

With the improvement of technology, vacuum pumps have been widely used, but it also means that the number of fault repairs has also increased. There are things that need to be paid attention to in the maintenance of vacuum pumps. There are some common-sense mistakes that are easy to happen to non-professional maintenance personnel. The following should be avoided in the maintenance of vacuum pumps.

1. Weld the self-flushing pipe at the outlet of the pump body

Most of the flushing pipe of the vacuum pump will use the sealing medium itself to pass through the flushing pipe from the pump inlet to introduce the sealing cavity to flush the sealing end face. Because the joint gaskets at both ends of the flushing pipe and the threaded joints are easy to leak, and sometimes the flushing liquid will erode the seal of the bellows. When the vacuum pump is repaired, the flushing pipe is directly removed and the joints at both ends are welded to death. Without the flushing pipe flushing fluid, the temperature of the friction pair will be interrupted, and the temperature of the friction pair will also be increased, which will also shorten the service life of the mechanical seal.

2. Remove the bellows sealing water guide jacket

The bellows type mechanical seal is generally equipped with a water guide jacket. The cooling water enters the outer side of the water guide jacket from the top of the gland, and then flows out from the bottom of the sealing gland after friction. The cooling water can not only play the role of cooling the friction pair, but also prevent the leakage of the liquid in the sealed cavity. In order to reduce the trouble caused by dredging the cooling water circuit, maintenance personnel often remove the water guide jacket at will because of the convenience of the plan, which will cause the cooling water to flow out of the sealing gland without being deflected.

3. Adjust the pump bearing bracket bolts when aligning

When repairing the centrifugal pump, put the rotor, bearing bracket and other assemblies into the pump casing, adjust the axial position of the impeller with the gasket between the pump casing and the pump cover, and use bolts to connect the pump casing and the pump cover after adjustment. Fasten together, then bolt the pump cover and bearing bracket together, then install the coupling and align. When aligning, the motor should be adjusted, first adjust the axial clearance, and then adjust the radial clearance.

When the vacuum pump maintenance personnel cannot meet the requirements when adjusting the motor, they will adjust the tightness of the tightening bolts between the pump cover and the bearing bracket to align. This will cause the motor to generate noise and vibration due to the different tightening degrees of the bolts. , it will also cause the entire pump to be scrapped.

4. A large amount of compression has better sealing effect than a small amount of compression

When installing mechanical seals, many maintenance personnel tend to subjectively believe that the larger the compression, the better the sealing effect is than the smaller the compression. However, the excessive compression of the mechanical seal causes the specific pressure of the end face to be too large, which leads to the increase of the temperature of the friction pair, and the decrease of the liquid film pressure on the seal end face, which causes the failure of the seal. However, the compression amount of the mechanical seal should not be too small. If the compression amount is too small, it is easy to cause seal leakage.

5. Immediate maintenance is better than no maintenance

Once the mechanical seal leaks during use, many vacuum pump maintenance personnel think that it should be repaired in time. In fact, in some cases, the immediate repair effect may not be good. During the operation of the mechanical seal, although there are some abnormalities, it is actually not damaged. It may be due to the change of relevant parameters such as the medium, and the poor cooling effect. After a period of operation, the media-related parameters are normal.
